Months
Activity: Arrange the months in the correct order
Print, laminate and cut out the month cards. Give one card to each pupil (or let pairs share a card). The pupils walk around the classroom, talk to each other and work together to arrange themselves in the correct order from January to December.
When everyone is standing in the right place, go through the months together. Ask questions such as:
- Which month comes before May?
- Which month comes after September?
- What is the first month of the year?
- What is the last month of the year?
- In which month is your birthday?
For extra practice, let the pupils close their eyes while two pupils swap places. Can the class spot which months are in the wrong order?
The activity also works well outdoors and is a fun way to practise the names and order of the months through movement and cooperation.
